Last weekend we joined some of the Griffing clan in Sequim for the annual Griffing-fish-til-you-drop weekend. No fish were caught, but we still enjoyed spending time together.
While the others fished, we went to the pumpkin patch. Aunt Kirsti had fun lugging Sean around in the backpack.
Mark looking at the pigs. There were about 15 little piglets too, in a different pen. I was hoping Sean would be more interested... alas he thought the crows ("CAW!") were still the most interesting animals.
Mark walked all over the pumpkin patch in search of the perfect little pumpkin. He didn't want one from the giant bins of tiny pumpkins... he wanted one from a plant that was growing big pumpkins. Here he is with his pet pumpkin (yes, it has a bed and a blanket... and a friend: a teeny apple he found!).
Mark hanging out with Grandpa during a delicious family meal.
Of course we also carved a "big" pumpkin - and Mark was very helpful!
Taking out those slimy seeds felt kind of disgusting...
But in the end, Mark was THRILLED with his 'Cactus Jack'* pumpkin!
*Cactus Jack is a fictional character from a series of stories that Ben has made up. Cactus Jack is a Space Marine, and he has gone on missions throughout the galaxy!
Sean has collected a nice double bump on his forehead... he was "helping" me rake leaves in the back yard, and took a roll off of the steps. Usually he is really good about climbing down those stairs backwards, but every few weeks he seems to feel the need to run off of them (he did it on his birthday, too).
In other Sean-related news, he is now eating big-boy food (aka, whatever we are eating, just cut small) at meals. He still nurses 4x during the day and 1x in the early morning.
Sean is a happy, sweet, and very mischievous little guy. Yesterday while I was in the bathroom, he managed to open my bead drawer... and promptly dumped more than 500 beads on the floor. Our living room has a shag carpet... and the beads ranged from seed-size beads all the way up to marble-sized. Sean had fun helping me pick them up, and he only tried to eat the beads a few times. Even after vacuuming, I keep finding little seed beads... I am sure they will show up for years to come.
~Coming up soon: Sean's first hair cut! (it hasn't happened yet)
