Sean had his 1-year check-up on Monday.
He is developing well, weighs 25 lbs 6.5 oz (11.5 kg) and is 33.5 inches long (85.9cm)... big boy! Just like his big brother Mark, he has slimmed down to the 84th percentile for weight, but is still OFF THE CHARTS for height. He is about a head taller than most babies/toddlers his age.
My cousin Andrea took some wonderful pictures at Sean's little birthday party. I thought you might enjoy them, so here they are:
Sean really likes Grandpa Bradley. I think the feeling may be mutual.
Mark in his tree house/ fort
Sean's own personal cup cake
Birthday boy!
Lemon cake cupcakes with and without frosting, and vanilla cupcakes with frosting
Sean sees Andrea's camera, and WANTS it.
Sean with his "bv-v-v" (his word for balloon). The bv-v-v later popped, and made him cry pitifully.
I am not sure if this picture was taken after Sean had calmed down from the loud "POP!" of the balloon, or if he is playing "peek-a-boo" with Andrea (he covers his ears when you cover your eyes).
Time to be with Momma - this was after the balloon popped. Note Sean's curls!
The kids are ready for their cup cakes!
"Uhm, Momma, I'm supposed to do WHAT with this thing?"
Sean had a great time squishing and smooshing the cup cake and frosting. He really didn't eat any of it.
...unlike the other kids, who ate many.
Sean making a sad face after putting some frosting in his mouth and not liking it.
Sean flirting with Andrea.
I'm not sure how Sean managed to get so covered in frosting without actually eating much of it. We had to wash him off and change his clothes!
Sean thought something was hilarious. This picture was taken mid-giggle.
The big boys played in the tree fort! (which we worked hard to finish that morning!)
Keatt and Wesley with their Grandpa Bob
Andy with cute cute cute baby Katie. Look how big she is getting!
The tree fort as seen from the ground looking up. The platform is just under 7 feet up.
Ben and Sean opening presents.
We are thankful for our friends who celebrated with us! (And yes, we realize it's silly to celebrate a 1st birthday with a party, but we love eating cupcakes with friends!)
Happy happy 1st birthday, Sean! We love you and love watching you grow!

Weekend at the Neskowin Beach
My friend Erin's parents have a beach house in Neskowin. A few weeks ago she and I and the kids spent the weekend there while our husbands were busy hiking/working. We had such a great time!
It was a little bit of a challenge to keep Sean out of mischief in a non-child-proofed house.
Mark and Holden will miss each other now that they have started school in different school districts, so can't see each other as often...
We had fantastic weather on Saturday. The kids enjoyed playing in the sand for hours.
Sean thought the sand was awesome. We had to keep an eye on him because he kept popping shells in his mouth. We finally just gave him a smooth shell that was big enough that he couldn't swallow it... and he was content walking around with it in his mouth while he played.
Sean's fat little sand-piggies.
Mark loved the feeling of the soft sand. He would have liked to bring some home to play with. (He kind of did... in his pockets)...
Sean "helped" Mark dig a hole to sit in.
Sean kept hogging the shovels. We showed the big boys how to dig with a bucket - which goes much faster anyway!
Sean learned to exclaim "WOW!" at particularly loud/big waves.
3 happy boys...
Mark was very happy about digging himself into the sand! It took some serious work to un-sand the kids... but it was 100% worth it! We had 3 exhausted boys that evening who fell asleep as soon as we put them to bed.
The weather was overcast on Sunday, so we bundled the boys, and went on a beach walk.
Doesn't Proposal Rock look gorgeous, all shrouded in fog?

Happy 1st Birthday, Sean!
We celebrated Sean's 1st birthday today!
Here are a few pictures of our big 1-year-old:
Sean with his blue "Bv-v-v-v" - you can see our tree fort in the background.
Sean RUNNING - he has a new bruise on top of his old bruise on his forehead now... :o(
Sean thought the cup cake was weird. He enjoyed crumbling it, and squishing it with his fingers, but didn't really eat it.
Happy Birthday, Sean!
