Baby Mark vs Baby Sean

People have marveled at how much my baby brother Sean looks like I did when I was small. Just for fun, my Momma has gone back into the archives of pictures of baby-Mark, and has found a few pictures that show just HOW MUCH we look like each other:

Here I am, meeting baby Sean when he was just a few hours old.

Here is baby-Mark in the hospital. I had a very similar profile to Sean!

Only a Momma would study her boys this closely, but she has had a lot of time to look at us while she nurses (in my case, nurseD) us. Here is what she has found: Our ears are a different shape, but our chin and mouth look very similar. Sean's nose is smaller and has a bit of a different shape than mine did. My cheeks were quite a bit rounder than Sean's, and Sean has dimples. My hairline is a bit higher than Sean's as a little baby, and I have a widow's peak. Sean has several cowlicks, and I only have one. My eyes were very blue, even when I was born, and Sean's are still dark slate grey - we will see what color his eyes turn into. Our feet are almost identical, with the longer THIRD toe, and our big toenail has a bad habit of getting ingrown. We will see what else is similar or different as Sean gets bigger!

Pilot Mark!!!

Today was a fun day! In the morning Momma took me to Lowes to do their once-a-month kid-project day. We got real worker's aprons and got to build a little puppet theater. We also got to climb all over a real fire engine! We were originally supposed to build a wooden fire engine, but it had been deemed unsafe...
I had a lot of fun hammering the nails myself with a boy-sized hammer. It made me feel good about myself.

After that I got to go to the Pearson Flight Museum with Dad! Today was national museum day, and Momma got two free tickets on the Smithsonian website. It was so fun!

Pilot-Mark is ready for take-off.

This was a fun day!

14-day check-up

Sean had his 2-week check-up on Friday. He has gained back his birth-weight and then some: he weighed 10 lbs 4.5oz (4664g) and is 23 3/4 inches (60cm) long. The pediatrician said that he is doing really well.

Here are some pics from the last week:

This is what happens when someone puts Sean down. He likes to be held all the time!

Sean is nice and quiet when he sleeps though...

Dad and I put together a cool wooden dragon yesterday. I am playing with the googly-eyes.

It's not Momma's fault there are more pics of Sean than of me. I don't like having my picture taken right now unless I can make a silly face... and Momma doesn't want to take a bunch of silly face pictures.

Sean doesn't smile intentionally yet, but he sure looks cute when he is almost smiling!

...you have three guesses what Sean is doing here...

Sean likes to stare up at the light bulb while his diaper is being changed... we still need to teach him that it's bad for his eyes!

The sheep skin is the one place in the house where Sean doesn't mind being put down for a few minutes.

Look how looong he is. That's a 3-month-size outfit, and he's stretching the toes!

Big and Little Brothers

Being a big brother is fun! Although it is also important for people to remember that I am also still my own self, MARK. Sean turns 1 week old tomorrow, and here are a few pictures of us for you to enjoy:

Playing 'horsey' with Grandma

As mentioned earlier, Sean really likes to be wrapped like a tortilla, and is then content to watch us while we eat... as long as someone holds him! (I thought it was pretty funny when Momma kept accidentally dropping food on him...)

This pic is actually from a few days before Sean was born. We went to Portland to feed the ducks and geese with Grandma...

...Sean still spends most of the day sleeping or nursing. I can't wait for him to be big enough to play!

Here I am helping Momma wake Sean up. He needed to learn to sleep at night and be awake more during the day.

Sean really doesn't like to be put down. Thankfully he likes his sling so Momma can still do stuff with me.

Sean is slowly learning to spend more time awake during the day. This means that Momma and Dad actually have gotten a few good nights of sleep. The first few nights Sean cried for hours and hours...

Often when Sean is asleep the kitty likes to sleep close by. I think he is being a guard cat. Merlin doesn't seem bothered when Sean cries. Lincoln, our dog, on the other hand, is very confused when Sean cries.

...more snoozing...

Last night Sean only woke up at 3am and at 6am, and then slept until 9am! This meant that Momma and I were able to eat breakfast together and do some crafts. I had the idea to make a memory game, which we will be adding to over time.

I drew snowmen, storm clouds, and airplane eaters. Momma drew some pictures too.

We had fun showing Dad when he got home from the dentist.

Today I helped Sean stay happy during his tummy time.

I gave him hugs, rubbed his back, and also showed him how I can push myself up on my arms and lift my head.

Then when he started getting fussy, Dad turned Sean into a burrito.

It's not always fun to listen to Sean cry, and it's not always easy to share the attention from people that I used to have all to myself, but I like being a big brother, and I love little Sean.

We are a family of 4 now...and I like it!

Welcome into the world, Sean Patton Bradley!!!

Sean Patton Bradley (pronounced "shawn pat-ton") was born at 10:29am on Sept 10, 2010. He surprised us all with his size: he weighed 10 lbs (4530g) and was 22 1/4 inches (56.5cm) long! The birth was wonderful, a successful VBAC, and we are happy to be a family of 4 now!

Katie, before going to the hospital.

Just minutes old!

They waited to weigh and measure him until he had snuggled with Momma for about half an hour.

Sean was very alert, it was hard to get a pic with his eyes open though cuz of the bright light.

A proud Dad!

Getting acquainted with Momma a little more...

...unlike Mark, Sean LOVES being wrapped up like a little burrito.

Mark gets to meet his little brother!

He held him, sniffed and kissed him, sang to him and talked to him.

"Momma, he's so cute!"

1 day old!

Big brother Mark watching Sean get ready to come home.

Dressed and ready - he didn't much care for wearing pants though...

We are so glad you are finally here, little Sean!
